With the Denver Broncos up against the cap this off-season, it was expected by many that Knighton along with others would move on to find new homes.
The defensive tackle became popular in Denver with his wide frame and ability to stop the run. His nickname “Pot Roast” is one of the better nicknames in sports.
According to Ravens Insider Aaron Wilson, Knighton will be signing a one-year contract for $4 million.

It’s a great deal for the Redskins to get Knighton on a cheap one-year deal. Knighton at one point, reportedly had several suitors in free agency and many expected the big defensive tackle to get a giant contract.
Knighton had 30 tackles and two sacks for the Broncos and was a key part of their defense in his time in Denver.
For Knighton, playing on a one-year deal will allow him to have another crack at a big deal in free agency next year if he continues to be a stalwart on the defensive line.
The Redskins this off-season have been committed to upgrading their defense. They have been linked to many names in the secondary and have also upgraded their defensive line when they added free agent defensive tackle Stephen Paea.
Adding Knighton furthers the depth along the defensive line and will help the Redskins get a better push from their front seven that will allow what could potentially be an improved secondary make plays.
Knighton is only 28-years-old and defensive lineman tend to play a long time in the NFL.
For the Redskins and Knighton, this is a deal that could mutually benefit both parties.
