Marcus Mariota says he wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up playing for his former college coach, Chip Kelly, on the Philadelphia Eagles

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded for Sam Bradford, many assumed the pipe-dream of Philly trading up in the draft to take Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota was over.

However, Mariota himself isn’t willing to dismiss the possibility of joining the Eagles just yet.

The Heisman trophy winner said he wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles tried to add him, according to CBS Philly.

"When asked about the Eagles and the possibility of playing for his old college coach, Chip Kelly, and if there is any way that could possibly happen, Mariota responded, “I wouldn’t doubt it. But Coach Kelly is going to do whatever is best for that team and we’ll see what happens. Coach Kelly checks in on me and sees what I’m doing. I’ve had an informal meeting with [Eagles] quarterback coach [Ryan Day on Thursday morning]. I think Sam [Bradford] will do good, whatever their plan is, he’ll be able to execute it. Josh [Huff] have become close friends and we joke about this. Josh is a great guy and we’ll see what happens."

At the very least, it sure seems like Mariota is interested in reuniting with Chip Kelly. Still, as great of a story as it would be, the Eagles adding Mariota is unliekly. The Oregon quarterback is likely to go within the first few picks of the draft, so Philly would have to rid themselves of a number of assets to put themselves in a position to take him.

Mariota threw for 4,454 yards with 42 touchdowns and 4 interceptions last season en route to Heisman, Walter Camp and Davey O’Brien honors.  He led the Ducks to the National Championship game in which they lost 42-20 to Ohio State.
