The entertaining and exhaustive New Orleans Saints offseason may not be done, as Jason La Canfora reports CB Keenan Lewis might be the next veteran shipped out

The most entertaining week in New Orleans Saints history continues barreling down the bayou taking out anything in its path. They’ve already traded tight end Jimmy Graham, guard Ben Grubbs and wide receiver Kenny Stills–two of the three which were clearly made to rid the team of a “problem child”.

Keenan Lewis may be the next to be shipped out by Sean Payton for that reason, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora.

Lewis, who La Canfora explained in his next tweet, “took to social media to voice his disapproval of the Saints drastic reshaping this offseason. Sean Payton is on the warpath..”

Other reports have said that “every player other than Drew Brees and Brandin Cooks is available”, while Mike Triplette, ESPN.com’s Saints reporter and many of the other local writers have hammered home this week that the roster reshaping is not a rebuild, nor is it about the salary cap.

More than anything it’s about finishing last season 7-9. Payton is not okay with such a record. Another La Canfora remark expands on that.

Much has been said this week about the aggressive nature that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has taken, seemingly axing anyone who was not his type of player. Payton shares the same kind of demeanor.

Both believe if they’re going to lose, they’re going to lose their way. If they’re going to be fired, they’re going to go down giving it everything they have.

Payton’s aggressiveness should be obvious given that in the most pressure situation he’s ever been in as a coach, the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts, he called for an onside kick to start the third quarter.

It’s just who Payton is as a person. That’s what these moves are about. He runs the Saints locker room, not the players. Anyone who does not fall in will be gone.

It doesn’t matter if those players are Pro Bowl caliber, as Graham and Grubbs were, and Lewis has been in the past.

And so Lewis may be gone shortly.
