Former Giants defensive back Antrel Rolle says that God and Orbitz helped him to decide on signing with the Chicago Bears.

More from Chicago Bears

Former Giants defensive back Antrel Rolle spent five seasons in New York, including a Super Bowl. He also gave a lot of memorable interviews with WFAN. Rolle signed with the Bears on Thursday and he gave one last, very interesting interview. According to a story on the Big Lead, Rolle appeared one last time on WFAN on the Joe and Evan Show to tell everyone how he came to his signing decision.

Rolle said he decided to pray to God for a sign on where to go during his impending free agency. He said he was awakened in the early morning with an email alert from Orbitz announcing discount deals to Chicago. That was apparently the sign he was looking for and Rolle headed to Chicago. He eventually signed a deal with the Bears for three years and $11.25 million, with $5 million guaranteed. No word on whether he’s heard from Orbitz yet to sign an endorsement deal.

About the Giants, Rolle said it was a very difficult decision to leave New York and that he doesn’t think the team can replace him. He said that the highlight of his tenure with the Giants wasn’t the Super Bowl win, but instead the following season when the team lost six straight at the beginning and somehow didn’t splinter.

During the NFL free agency process, Rolle said it had come down to between Chicago and Washington and that he didn’t actually hear from the Giants until he was about ready to sign with the Bears, according to a report by Newsday. He said he knew his career with the Giants was likely over when he didn’t hear from them during the exclusive negotiating period.

“I can’t tell you how much you (the fans) all have meant to me,” he said, while noting that he has a Giants NY logo tattooed on his chest that “isn’t going anywhere.” (via Newsday)
