The Villanova Wildcats staked their claim to a potential No. 1 seed with a win in the 2015 Big East Tournament

The Villanova Wildcats have been a team that was a point of contention all season long, with some believing that they might not deserve a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Coming into the Big East Tournament, most thought that Jay Wright and his crew would have to win the whole thing, and that’s exactly what they did.

On Saturday night in Madison Square Garden, Villanova had no problem disposing of Xavier in the 2015 Big East Tournament Championship Game, 69-52. It was pretty much all dominance in this one for the Wildcats en route to the title.

Again, now the question turns to whether or not Villanova will get the No. 1 seed that some believe they deserve, while some others quite frankly don’t. With the Big East down in a lot of peoples’ eyes, they’re skeptical as to whether or not Villanova can walk into the NCAA Tournament as one of the top seeds.

With Selection Sunday just less than 24 hours away, we will have our answer shortly.

With the Big East Tournament now out of the way, here is a look at how it all played out.
