The Cleveland Browns are determined to sign free agent wide receiver Dwayne Bowe according to Ian Rapoport.
The Kansas City Chiefs landed former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, and that marked the end of the Dwayne Bowe era. Bowe confirmed to ESPN’s Josina Anderson that he was in Ohio to meet with the Browns.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport then followed that report with one of his one this morning.
#Browns brought Dwayne Bowe in to visit with the intention of not letting him leave. Big commitment to sign a top WR #Boweheldhostage

So not only are the Browns bringing Bowe in to meet with them, they’re intent on signing him. Let’s keep in mind that Bowe was pretty miserable last season, scoring no touchdowns. He caught 60 passes for 754 yards though.
He isn’t necessarily going to play with a solid quarterback that will help Bowe play better in Cleveland. This sort of reeks of the Miles Austin deal from Cleveland a few years a go. After a break out couple of seasons from Austin, injuries kept him sidelined and the Cowboys cut him loose.
The Browns gave Austin another shot but it never panned out.
If the price is right though, then go right ahead Cleveland. But Rapoport says they see him as a “top” wide receiver.
