Phaneuf and Kassian grabbed and shoved each other in front of the Toronto net.
A linesman tried getting between the two to break up the scuffle, but the fight didn’t end there unfortunately for the ref.
Kassian, wanting to fight pulled the linesman into the fracas and began pulling on his jersey as the ref tried to desperately get away from his grasp.
Kassian was ejected and given a game misconduct for his actions in the scuffle.
It will be interesting to see if the NHL decides to take further action, especially since a linesman was physically touched.
While hockey is an intense sport with fights, Kassian has to know to stay away from the refs. There certainly is no love lost between Kassian and Phaneuf.
