Out – Miami Heat

Pat Riley tried to position the Miami Heat in the playoffs by acquiring Goran Dragic from the Phoenix Suns ahead of the trade deadline. He hasn’t made the type of difference that the Heat were hoping for, and has formed a deadly back-court duo with Dwyane Wade.

Unfortunately, the Heat didn’t plan on Chris Bosh going down for the season due to blood clots in his lungs. That is a huge loss and is the main reason that they will not end up making the postseason. Miami still has a lot of talent on their roster, but they are inconsistent for the most part and simply aren’t going to beat out the two teams that are expected to make the playoffs on this list.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Heat hang on for the ninth seed and have a chance late in the season, but they don’t control their own destiny.

They are currently in ninth, and are a half game behind the eighth playoff spot. Miami simply doesn’t have the talent to beat out some of their other competition, and they will end up missing out on the playoffs.
