Can P.J. Tucker help your fantasy basketball team?
Playoff time is here for most fantasy basketball leagues so if you are reading this, then congratulations are in order. Either you are in the playoffs or you are a hardcore reader and fan of the work here at Fantasy CPR and either way that makes you a winner in my book. The question that we pose here today is can P.J. Tucker help your fantasy team win it all? I think Tucker is a pretty solid player and is most likely worth a pickup depending on your format.

Tucker is only owned at 19.7% in ESPN.com leagues and is currently trending downward in ownership. I really don’t understand why he is trending down as he is still playing pretty solid. Tucker should certainly be owned in all 12 team leagues and is a borderline player in standard sized leagues depending upon your format. P.J. Tucker is currently averaging 12 points, 7.9 rebound, 1.6 assists, 1 steal and 1.1 three-pointers made per game. For those of you in cats leagues you will find Tucker is a solid contributor in points, rebounds and even helpful in three-pointers.
Tucker is about the only person on the Suns team that brings any level of grit and toughness that Coach Jeff Hornacek has been looking for and clamoring to the media about. Tucker is seeing about 36.9 minutes of floor time over the last 2 weeks which is up from his monthly average of 33.9. The Suns are by no means eliminated in a tough Western Conference playoff race and should continue to fight and kick to try to obtain the eighth and final playoff spot for that conference.
There are several players in Tucker’s class that can be had and used for your goal of a fantasy championship. The key to picking them up is paying attention to news updates from the coaches and watching the box scores and minutes distribution. I simply can not stress enough how much that discipline alone can increase your odds of winning games in fantasy basketball. Most people in our world want everything handed to them for free and will use every excuse in the book as to why things did not work out their way. So the key to beating them is to be proactive. If you see that a certain player is trending upwards and had a few games in a row of 30 plus minutes per night, don’t wait for his name to get hot before picking him up. Sometimes you will need to learn to make decisions for yourself and don’t expect to win your league by having it handed to you on a silver platter. If someone’s name appears on the internet, in most active and highly competitive leagues the said player is long gone from your waiver wire.
