Golden State Warriors guard and three point specialist Klay Thompson will be out 7-10 days with an ankle injury.
Klay Thompson suffered an ankle injury in Monday night’s tight victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Thompson played through the injury, but it turns out it’s a little more serious than a simple roll and he’ll be out 7-10 days.
After the game, Klay Thompson told ESPN’s Neil Everett that the best thing for him to do was just play through the rolled ankle and let it work itself out, but clear Golden State Warriors trainers and coach Steve Kerr had other opinions.
Klay Thompson’s injury will force him to miss some key games, including Wednesday night’s game against Eastern Conference juggernaut Atlanta Hawks. Thompson averages 21.9 points per game for Golden State and has been a key for the team’s winning ways. Thompson’s 196 3-pointers this season is second most in the NBA behind teammate Stephen Curry.
The Warriors sit at 53-13, and are in the top spot in the Western Conference. Thompson will miss the Warriors game against the Hawks who have the second best record in the NBA at 53-14. Thompson will likely miss games against the Pelicans, Wizards and Trail Blazers as well. If all goes well, Thompson should return for an important game next Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies who are second in the West.
