The Seattle Seahawks acquired superstar tight end Jimmy Graham last week in a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Saints, much to the dismay of 7-year-old Lexia Woods.
Woods took social media by storm last weak with a heartbreaking video about the trade, saying “wherever Jimmy Graham goes, I go.”
Graham courteously took the time to reply to her with a Facebook message and invite Lexia and her family to his first game in Seattle. On Tuesday afternoon, Graham and ESPN took it one step further, allowing Lexia to talk to Graham live on SportsCenter.
Lexia’s dad serves in the military, but the family is hoping he will be able to make the game in Seattle.
Graham gained many fans during his five years with the Saints by catching 386 passes for 4,752 yards and 51 touchdowns. Many in New Orleans may feel conflicted the first time the Seahawks and Saints play each other following the trade, but Lexia will keep on rooting for her favorite athlete.
We need more athletes like Graham.
