Austin Rivers has things hard enough. He already isn’t very good at basketball and has to deal with a lot of people saying that he should not be in the league. Then his dad tried to be a great dad and traded for him in hopes of making Austin feel happy, but all that did was lead to more people making jokes about him and how he can only keep his spot in the league because of his dad. Now Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had to go and bully poor Austin.
(vine via one of our own writers but I’m not giving him any more credit than that because he still likes Victor Oladipo more than Giannis)
To the credit of that writer, he has repeatedly tried to convince me that MKG is not only the best wing defender in all of basketball but that he is maybe the best player in the league at chasedown blocks. After watching how easily MKG makes this look I am starting to come around on both of those things. The fact that Kidd-Gilchrist is able to get across the court and block this shot without goaltending it is amazing. Unfortunately no other Hornet could get back in time to prevent a Clippers basket after the block.
Either way though what a play from MKG. And as always, poor Austin Rivers.
