The Miami Dolphins are bringing in former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree for a visit after trading away Mike Wallace last week.
Michael Crabtree is one of the better wide receivers remaining on the free agent market, and he is finally taking his first visit of the free agency period. According to a report from Pro Football Talk, the Miami Dolphins are bringing Crabtree in for a visit after a very slow start to free agency for him.

Miami has been very busy this offseason, and are looking like legitimate playoff contenders in 2015. They signed superstar defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh to start the offseason, and then proceeded to acquire wide receiver Kenny Stills from the New Orleans Saints. Soon after acquiring Still, they decided to trade Mike Wallace to the Minnesota Vikings.
Obviously the trade of Wallace has opened up another spot at the wide receiver position for a player like Crabtree.
During the 2014 season with San Francisco, Crabtree ended up catching 68 passes for 698 yards and four touchdowns. He has had health issues throughout the majority of his career, which is part of the reason that his value has gone down. At 27 years old, Crabtree still has plenty of football left in him and time to turn his career back around.
Signing with the Dolphins would make a lot of sense for Crabtree, and perhaps a fresh start is exactly what he needs. They have a need at the wide receiver position, and if he can reach his full potential he is definitely a legitimate number one wide receiver.
Last season was a big step in the right direction for quarterback Ryan Tannehill. He showed the franchise quarterback potential that the Dolphins saw in him when they drafted him. If he can take the next step in 2015, the Dolphins’ offense could be very dynamic.
Putting Crabtree alongside of Stills is a very dangerous duo at the wide receiver position. Miami also went out and signed former Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron, who is out to prove himself once again after a disappointing 2014 campaign.
All of that being said, it would be a nice move for the Dolphins to sign Crabtree if he comes at the right price. He has a lot of potential, and is without question capable of improving his numbers in a big way. Miami needs to bring in all the talent that they can, and Crabtree would immediately improve their aerial attack.
