George Selvie is on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ radar.

One of the more feel-good stories in the 2013 NFL season was George Selvie. If it weren’t for an achilles tear to Tyrone Crawford, Selvie could very well be out of the league. The Dallas Cowboys brought Selvie on in training camp. He was thought of as a depth guy, but Selvie emerged into a starting defensive for the Cowboys and a good one at that. In 2014, Selvie recorded 45 total tackles, seven sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Luckily for the Cowboys, who were at that time one of the worst teams in the league in terms of rushing the quarterback, Selvie was on a two-year deal and he was returning for the 2014 season in hopes that he could replicate the success he had in 2013.

Instead, Selvie greatly flopped. Jeremy Mincey outplayed Selvie and once November came around and rookie DeMarcus Lawrence was fully recovered from the foot injury he suffered in training camp, Selvie turned into a depth-purposes guy. Despite that, the

are a team that have interest in the South Florida product.

According to Darren Wolfson of ESPN, the Buccaneers are in on Selvie, and the team who was supposed to be in the sweepstakes, in the Minnesota Vikings, is now out of the race.

Considering that Selvie is from Florida and he went to college there as well, there are some reasons why Selvie, at 28 years old, could play for the Bucs. Before he was signed by the Cowboys, Greg Hardy was on the Bucs’ radar. However, after missing out on him, the Bucs will look to Selvie to improve their pass rush. Although he wasn’t productive in 2014, Selvie is one of the better defensive ends available on the market and he would fill a position of need for the Bucs.
