Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri has been suspended by the NHL for four games following an illegal check to the head of Edmonton’s Matt Fraser.

The NHL Player Safety Department has announced that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri has been suspended four games for his illegal check on Edmonton’s Matt Fraser. Kadri delivered an elbow to the back of Fraser’s head which sent him down to the ice.

After the big hit, Kadri immediately seemed to check on Fraser to see if he was okay while a skirmish broke out.

Despite showing some immediate remorse, Kadri was given the suspension as a repeat offender.

Fraser received a concussion from the shot to his head.

When Kadri was asked whether he was concerned that a suspension could be coming his way earlier in the week, he responded with, “Maybe, a little bit. Whatever they decide to do, I’ll live with it.”

According to The Star, Kadri will lose $141,463.41 during his time off.

Nazem Kadri’s four-game ban will keep him out of games against the San Jose Sharks, Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers. Kadri will be eligible to return on March 28 when the Maple Leafs play host to the Senators at Air Canada Centre.
