Harvard gets a four-point play near end of game against North Carolina.
13 seeds are not supposed to be competitive against four seeds in the NCAA Tournament. But Thursday saw two 14 seeds pull off upsets against three seeds, so we should not have been shocked that the Harvard Crimson were in position late to pull off a mammoth upset against a legendary program, the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Harvard pulled to to within a 60-57 deficit at the under-4 timeout and even took a lead against Roy Williams’ Tar Heels. They did so with this play, a four-point play with just over a minute to play in Jacksonville.

Wesley Saunders scored 26 of the Crimson’s 65 points, but it was Siyani Chambers who hit the huge shot to give his team the lead. Saunders shot eight-of-14 and eight-of-nine at the free throw line.
None of those points were as dramatic or important as the four-point play, however. The shot was probably not the shot head coach Tommy Amaker was hoping to get, but the three-point hit gave Harvard its first lead and a huge boost.
Chambers was the only other double-digit scorer for Harvard as he went 5-13 and hit his only free throw–the and-one on the four-point play.
However, the lead would not last as Carolina battled back to defeat the Crimson 67-65.
