Unfortunately for the veteran wide receiver and former Super Bowl MVP, other teams don’t seem to feel the same.
While speaking recently to Sports Illustrated, Holmes expressed his confusion and the fact that he is baffled no one in the NFL has given him an opportunity to join their roster.
“It baffles me a little, to know that I’m not a part of any organization,” Holmes said.
“It’s a gift and a curse at the same time. I say that because the gift of playing — an opportunity to be a figure in the National Football League, I enjoy. And the curse of having one injury in my entire career, people are now looking at me as if Santonio Holmes is not the guy anymore.”
Holmes most recently was a member of the Chicago Bears, but he made no impact for the team. Holmes joined the league as a first-round pick out of Ohio State back in the 2006 NFL Draft.
