While Russell led the way, he wasn’t the only Ohio State player to step up in the big game. Amir Williams scored 13, Jae’sean Tate scored 12 and Keita Bates-Diop hit two clutch three-pointers down the stretch.
On the other side, VCU was led by Doug Brooks, who scored 14 points. Shaka Smart’s team had a chance to win the game with the clock winding down in regulation, but missed layups from JeQuan Lewis and Treveon Graham sent the game into overtime.
The Buckeyes will take on the No. 2 seeded Arizona Wildcats in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

Taking down the Wildcats will be no small task for the Buckeyes. Arizona is one of the hottest teams in the country, winners in 18 of their last 19 games.
Ohio State has a record of 24-10, while Arizona stands at 32-3 for the year.
The start time for the Round of 32 game has not yet been announced.
