Georgia State is playing Baylor tough and has the Bears on upset alert at halftime in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

It wouldn’t be March madness without upsets and we could have one in brewing in the West region with No. 3 Baylor holding a slim three-point lead over No. 14 Georgia State at halftime.

Moments after No. 14 Northeastern blew an opportunity in the closing seconds of upsetting No. 3 Notre Dame in the Midwest Region, the Panthers of Georgia State are hopeful they’ll be able to seal the deal after a strong opening 20 minutes.

Ryann Green leads Georgia State with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, as the Panthers have shot exceptionally well in the first half, going 13-24 from the field to make it a close game.

Baylor is led in scoring at the half by Taureen Prince who is a perfect 2-2 from the field, both of them three-pointers, and is also a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line for a game-high 10 points. Four other players have at least five points for Scott Drew’s team that entered as a heavy favorite. In fact, they are a popular pick to make it to at least the Sweet 16 where a potential matchup with Arizona awaits.

If Baylor is able to survive the upset alert they will play the winner of the No. 11 Ole Miss vs No. 6 Xavier game from Jacksonville, FL.

Do you think Baylor comes out and extends their tiny three-point lead in the second half or will Georgia State keep it close and have the chance at pulling the first upset of the NCAA Tournament? Let us know in the comments section below.
