The Miami Dolphins have re-signed safety Louis Delmas and running back LaMichael James to one-year deals.

The Miami Dolphins have decided to re-sign a pair of players. They will bring back safety Louis Delmas and running back LaMichael James on respective one-year deals, according to ESPN.

Delmas, 27, signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins last year after spending his first five seasons with the Detroit Lions. He played pretty well for the Dolphins in his first year, appearing in 13 games with 12 starts and registering 60 tackles (40 solo) with one sack and also added one interception (returned for a touchdown) and 3 passes defensed.

His season was cut slightly short though, as he suffered an ACL tear in a Week 14 match against the Baltimore Ravens. The biggest issue with Delmas throughout his career has been staying healthy. He can be a very effective player on the field, the problem is him staying on the field.

During his six-year career, Delmas has played a full 16-game season just once, which was in 2013 with Detroit.

James, 25, will be staying in Miami as well. He joined the team in October after being released by the San Francisco 49ers. James has struggled to find a place in the NFL since having a remarkable collegiate career in Oregon.

In his brief three-year NFL career, James as just 193 yards on 44 carries and no touchdowns. He has also added 45 receiving yards on five catches and nine targets. James has done most of his work in the return game during his time with San Francisco, but Miami seems to have bigger plans for James than that.

With the Dolphins most likely not bringing back Daniel Thomas, they expect James to compete for the backup job behind Lamar Miller. Miller has his own injury problems, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see James with a more expanded role on the Dolphins going forward.
