Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter is quickly becoming the star of the NCAA Tournament.
Ron Hunter is must-see television when the Georgia State head coach is in front of a microphone and when he’s sitting on his swivel chair on the sidelines, but he sure does need to be more careful.

Hunter ruptured his Achilles tendon in a postgame celebration with his son and star guard R.J. Hunter in the Panthers win over Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt conference final.
He didn’t let that stop him from celebrating the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament and he said he took a couple of pills to help him with the pain that was a “17” on a scale of 1-10.
When Georgia State played their first game in the Big Dance against No. 3 Baylor on Thursday afternoon, Hunter nearly made matters worse when he had a wild celebration from his stool after R.J. hit the game-winning three-point shot to upset the heavily favored Bears.
I still laugh every single time I see Hunter throw his arms in the air and he is parallel to the ground by the time the ball hits the court.
But maybe I shouldn’t be laughing because Hunter actually cracked the cast on his lower leg on the fall.
Ron Hunter: “My doctor is on the way here. I cracked the cast on the fall. I’m getting it re-cast. She said something about a saw."

Georgia State is set to play No. 6 Xavier on Saturday with a bid to the Sweet Sixteen on the line, but he may wanna have the Georgia State training staff wrap himself in bubble tape below his shoulders so he doesn’t do any more damage to his body that is clearly breaking down.
My bracket is already busted so I find myself cheering for Hunter and his team, so from that standpoint and from the standpoint of seeing what he does and says next, I hope they can survive and advance to get more from Hunter.
