NCAA Tournament 2015: Indiana vs Wichita State live scoring tracker

Live scoring updates for Indiana vs. Wichita State in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

The road to the Final Four officially got underway on Thursday, when the field of 64 teams began their march to the NCAA Men’s Final Four at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Already, there are a few Cinderella teams crashing the party and there is guaranteed to be a few more before all is said and done.

While not of the same grandeur of the two big upsets from Thursday, it is exactly the frame of mind the #10 seed Indiana Hoosiers are going to be in when they meet up with the #7 Shockers of Wichita State on Friday afternoon.

More from March Madness

Indiana comes into the tournament on an at large bid, owed as much to their 20-13 overall record as to their place in the pantheon of NCAA tournament history. However, it has been far from a stellar season for Tom Crean’s squad of Hoosiers, as Indiana struggled to a 9-9 record in the Big 10 and come limping into the big dance having dropped 4 of their last 5 and 9 of their final 14 games.

Ranked 18th in the nation in scoring with an average of 77.5 points per contest, the Hoosiers are led by junior guard Yogi Ferrell (16.1 PPG, 4.9 AST) and freshman guard James Blackmon Jr. (15.8 PPG, 5.3 REB). However for all of their offensive proficiency, the Hoosiers fall apart of the defensive side of the ball, surrendering 71.4 points per game (298th in the country).

Like the opposite side of the mirror, the Wichita State Shockers represent a completely different look than the Hoosiers of Indiana. Wichita ranks 7th in the country by allowing just 55.8 points per game defensively, paced by their nearly 7 steals per contest. Offensively, they convert those break-away baskets and contribute 69.7 points per game, which is good enough for a 108th ranking.

Also, the Shockers enter the tournament with very little resistance, having gone 28-4 during the regular season and 17-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They come into the dance having won 20 of their last 22 games, but dropped their only conference game in the MVC Championship, losing to Illinois State in the final. They parlayed that success into a #14 ranking in the AP Poll and a #13 mark in the coaches poll heading into the tourney.

Needless to say, the Hoosiers have their work cut out for them, but that’s a role that Tom Crean and company cherish. Whether they can turn that underdog work ethic into a victory on Friday may be another story.

The game will be broadcast on CBS at 2:45 Eastern Time
