New York Giants sign former Dallas Cowboys DE George Selvie
Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end George Selvie has signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants.
It seems that former Dallas Cowboys defensive end George Selvie will be reuniting with former USF teammate Jason Pierre-Paul, as he signs a one-year, $1.4 million deal with the New York Giants, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
In a NFC East division where they will have to face a fast-paced Philadelphia Eagles offense and one of the best offensive lines in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys two times each, the Giants will need a strong defensive line. Selvie can be a solid depth addition to the Giants defensive line.

Selvie has been a bit of a journeyman over his career. Since entering the league in 2010 with the St. Louis Rams, he split the 2011 season between the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars and stayed in Jacksonville through the 2012 season. In 2013, he finally landed in a starting role with the Dallas Cowboys.
In two seasons with the Cowboys, Selvie played in all 32 games and started all but three of them. He recorded 81 tackles (60 solo) with 10 sacks and two forced fumbles (both recovered) during his time with the Cowboys.
The defensive line has always been the bread and butter of the New York Giants. However, since the departures of Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck, the Giants have struggled with the depth on their defensive line. They have their studs, such as Jason Pierre-Paul (although he has struggled with injuries lately) and Damontre Moore, but their supporting cast has been lacking. The Giants have already made one addition to the defensive line through free agency, adding defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis from the New York Jets, and now they add Selvie to help strengthen their defensive line even more.
The Giants will most likely add a couple more pieces to the defensive line before the offseason is over, with at least one of them most likely coming through the draft. The addition of Selvie certainly isn’t a ‘sexy’ pick-up, but it’s a smart and necessary one by the New York Giants.
