Ottawa Senators rookie forward Curits Lazar decided to eat one of the hamburgers that were thrown onto the ice.

The Ottawa Senators are feeling good right now, but the same may not be said about Senators rookie forward Curtis Lazar today after he decided to eat one of the hamburgers that were thrown onto the ice after their 6-4 win over the Boston Bruins.

Curtis, you have no idea where that burger has been. Plus, it was on the ice, where you guys skate, fall, spit and, sometimes, bleed. You better go get tested for, well, everything right away.

Yeah, weā€™ll be sure to get you some ketchup next time, Curtis.

If the Senators keep winning, their going to have to get used to flying hamburgers. With the incredible emergence of goaltender Andrew Hammond, nicknamed ā€˜The Hamburgler,ā€™ the Senators faithful have really gotten behind the nickname and showing their support. To go along with fans throwing hamburgers on the ice, weā€™ve seen fans dress up as The Hamburgler, the Senators have handed out Hamburgler masks to attending fans, and McDonalds has even reached out to Hammond to do some kind of sponsorship.

Since making the jump to the NHL, the 27-year old goaltender is 12-0-1 with a 1.55 GAA and a .950 save percentage. Thatā€™s almost impossible to even imagine after you look at his numbers in the AHL. In 25 games in the AHL for the Binghamton Senators this season, he is just 7-13-2 with a 3.51 GAA and a .898 save percentage.

Yes, those are his actual numbers, they are not exaggerated.

In this particular game, however, it was more of a shootout. Hammond didnā€™t finish with strong stats in this one, as he allowed 4 goals on 35 shots for a .886 save percentage. Those games are going to happen though, and when they do, your teammates need to step up and bail you out with some goal support. Thatā€™s exactly what the Senators did in this one, scoringĀ five times against Bruins goaltender Tuuka Raask on 31 shots before adding and empty netter for the sixth goal.

The victory was a huge one for the Senators, as they are right behind the Bruins for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. With the win, they are now just two points behind the Bruins with a game in hand. So, there is reason to celebrate.

Some guys will go out with their teammates and celebrate, and others will eat a hamburger that was thrown onto the ice from a fan. To each his own Curtis, you do you.
