On Friday, the quarterfinals and semifinals took place and one of the biggest stories of the day was the continued emergence of West Virginia freshman Zeke Moisey, who has been storming through the 125 pound bracket.
Moisey’s Cinderella story began on Thursday, when he shocked the wrestling world by upsetting the No. 2 ranked wrestler in his weight class.
The unranked freshman then found himself in the semifinals on Friday where he made quick work of No. 6 seed Thomas Gilman of Iowa. Wasting no time, Zeke Moisey’s improbable run continued as he stuck Gilman to earn his spot in the finals.
Not only did Moisey stick Gilman in the very first period, but he did so in nearly thirty seconds.
It was just the latest feather in Zeke Moisey’s cap as he continues to roll through the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships and we will see if his improbable rise to the top of the collegiate wrestling world ends with a national title on Saturday.
