The Panthers turn to some serious technology to keep Ron Hunter in his chair.

Even through injury, Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter just can’t stop celebrating.

Hunter tore his Achilles celebrating his team’s narrow victory in the Sun Belt championship game, which advanced the Panthers to the NCAA Tournament. That confined Hunter to coaching from an office chair for most of Georgia State’s opening round upset of Baylor, until he fell off it celebrating his son R.J.’s game-winning three.

Georgia State is using a new-and-improved chair to make sure Hunter doesn’t fall and injure his Achilles worse in the Panthers’ round of 32 game Saturday night against Xavier.

From Georgia State’s Twitter account:

Of course, it’s hard to blame Hunter for celebrating the second tournament win in program history in such a dramatic fashion. The Panthers scored the final 12 points of the game against the Bears (nine from R.J.), including a long-range three with less than three seconds remaining.

If Georgia State continues the run into the Sweet Sixteen with a win over Xavier on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. in Jacksonville, it may be impossible to keep Hunter from celebrating. The Panthers have to be considered the Cinderella of the tournament as the lowest seed remaining.

Win or lose, that office chair will be one of the lasting images of the 2015 tournament. Hunter has already proved on multiple occasions that the Panthers are must-watch television.
