The possessor of the last perfect bracket on ESPN.com didn’t watch college basketball this year.

When it comes to filling out an NCAA Tournament bracket, often it is the lucky who win. Or those who chose teams by mascot names, colors or some form of sentimental connection.

The lone perfect bracket at the moment belongs to a player whose username is Malaquias4394. He had Ohio State advancing past Arizona in today’s round, meaning he, too, will likely fall victim to a loss.

The owner of that perfect first round, however, did not watch a game of college basketball this season. As told by ESPN’s Darren Rovell, “I actually haven’t watched a full game this year.”

Of course, he is probably not alone, as this was a brutal season on the whole for college basketball. Yet it has produced one of the most exciting tournaments in recent memory to date.

ESPN Stats & Info tweeted Friday that it is the first time since 2010 that anybody registered a perfect bracket through the tournament’s initial round.

Still, it would have been highly unlikely that he would have ended perfect, given that he had Kansas defeating the Kentucky Wildcats in the Elite 8. We can all probably agree that he will not happen, assuming Kansas is even able to get past in-state “rival” Wichita State on Sunday.

The Wildcats became the first NCAA team to ever start a season 36-0 on Saturday when they defeated the No. 8 seed Cincinnati Bearcats 64-51.

It does look like the perfect bracket will be decimated very soon though as Ohio State is down double digits with under four minutes to go against Arizona.
