The four tops seeds for the Frozen Four are owned by Minnesota State-Mankato, North Dakota, Boston University and Miami (Ohio). Minnesota State-Mankato earned the top seed after going 29-7-3 this season and winning the WCHA conference championship.
Union College in New York, the defending champion, did not earn a spot in the field after they struggled to a 19-18-2 record this season and were eliminated in the conference tournament quarterfinals by Quinnipiac.
