Introducing the Philadelphia Eagles – the all-injury team

Sam Bradford
Then we get to the big elephant in the room.
Alsonso, Murray, Mathews, Thurmond – mere child’s play compared to what the St. Louis Rams had to endure the past five-seasons with supposed franchise quarterback Sam Bradford.
Over the last two seasons Bradford has only played in seven of a possible 32 regular season games.

Does the guy even remember how to play the position?
Both times, a torn-up knee and the ensuing surgery was the reason for his absence. In 2011 he missed six-games because of a high-ankle sprain.
It doesn’t stop there.
During his freshman season at Oklahoma he suffered a concussion and in his Junior (last) season he sustained an AC joint sprain of his shoulder that forced him out of action for several weeks.
Now at 27-years of age, he’s on the final year of his rookie contract which will cost the Eagles a little under $13 million in cap space.
I’ll grant Kelly the fact that grabbing Bradford on his walk-year could capture some lightning in a bottle.
Other than that though, mixing and matching so many guys with disastrous injury pasts is a recipe for failure.
I loved the McCoy for Alonso deal. Since then, he’s lost me.
Of course injuries are a part of football (as Chip so often likes to state). However, durability is a key talent and as we stand right now the Eagles are completely in the tank in that category.
Next: It's a mad, mad, mad Chip Kelly world
