While there are no games in the men’s NCAA Tournament on Monday March 23, action will continue in the second round of the women’s NCAA Tournament. Games start at 6 p.m. Eastern time as the second seeded Florida State Seminoles take on the seventh seeded Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast. This intrastate rivalry will send a team to the Sweet Sixteen.
Florida State cruised to a 30-4 record this season under the continued tutelage of 18th-year head coach Sue Semrau. They came in second in the ACC behind top-seeded Notre Dame, but hope to get the best of the Irish, as well as every other team, in the Tournament. The play of Adut Bulgak and Leticia Romero will be the driving force as they hope to send their Florida rivals packing.
Florida Gulf Coast was no slouch this year, going an impressive 31-2, including an undefeated record in Atlantic Sun conference play. Fresh of a 75-67 win over Oklahoma State, the Eagles hope to pull the upset and show their in-state rivals who’s boss.
