Kevin Love is sometimes a hard guy to like or root for — which is a sentiment that apparently extends to his teammates in Cleveland.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Kevin Love this offseason, it was assumed that LeBron James requested the deal and that it would lead to some sort of superstar friendship. But rather than Super Friends, the idea of LeBron James and Kevin Love getting along now seems more like a diabolical plot by the Legion of Doom.

LeBron James and Kevin Love do not get along — at least, not in the way we thought they would. But that doesn’t mean they’re not  getting along, as being best friends and tolerating someone are two very different things that don’t cancel each other out.

Kevin Love appeared on Mike and Mike this morning and noted that he isn’t best friends with LeBron James, but their relationship is starting to grow.

"“You know, we’re not best friends, we’re not hanging out every day, but we see each other every day, whether we’re at the practice facility, whether we’re on the road or going to a game,” Love said on Mike & Mike. “I think our relationship is also evolving. I could say the same with each and every coach, coach [David] Blatt, and each and every player on the team. But, that’s part of the NBA.”"

People expecting Kevin Love and LeBron James to skip hand-in-hand through the poppy fields together are expecting too much. This isn’t anything new from Kevin Love, as this weird holier than thou attitude he has been blessed with was what wore out his welcome in Minnesota and it’s already wearing Cavs fans thin.

There doesn’t need to be a Jordan/Pippen dynamic to the LeBron/Love situation. Not everyone gets along with their teammates. Not everyone that played with Kobe liked him, not everyone loves Tom Brady and there are no family barbecues with the Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman family.

Love and LeBron don’t need to got to the spa together, they need to coexist to win an NBA title — and everything else in their relationship is a bonus.
