It’s a battle of two teams who are seemingly incapable of losing. One hasn’t lost in conference play; the other hasn’t lost at all.
The Maryland Terrapins, the top seed in the Spokane region of the women’s NCAA Tournament, take on the eighth seeded Princeton Tigers Monday. The Terps (31-2) have a decided advantage, playing what is essentially a home game in College Park, Maryland. Although Connecticut is the favorite to win it all, Maryland has to be considered one of their major rivals for the championship.
But they’ll be taking on a Princeton team that has yet to lose this season, despite playing several major-conference teams in addition to Ivy League competition. Both teams are coming off double-digit wins in the first round of the tournament, and should be prepared to give each other their best shots. Princeton (30-0) is simply not your typical eighth seed, and it should be fascinating to see what happens when this unstoppable force meets this immovable object.
