Young female baseball phenom Mo’ne Davis wants Bloomsburg baseball player Joey Casselberry reinstated to his team after he was kicked off for sending out a very offensive tweet towards Mo’Ne Davis.

Mo’ne Davis is showing everyone that not only she is a phenomenal athlete, but also a phenomenal human being.

Joey Casselberry was a high school standout at Methacton High School, breaking almost every offensive record in the school’s history and achieving All-Southeast Pennsylvania honors.

Casselberry plays first-base for Bloomsburg University.

Well, he used to, anyway.

Casselberry was recently dismissed from the team after he sent out an extremely offensive tweet directed towards Mo’ne Davis on Friday night. Casselberry was obviously a bit annoyed at all the attention Mo’ne Davis was receiving, and when he heard that Disney was preparing to make a movie about her, he let his emotions get the better of him.

His Twitter account was deactivated shortly after the tweet was sent out, but the damage had already been done. In turn, Bloomsburg University released Casselberry from the team and apologized for his offensive comments.

Casselberry released his own statement, apologizing for the comment and deeply regretting his decision.

"An example that one stupid tweet can ruin someone’s life and I couldn’t be more sorry about my actions last night. I please ask you to. Forgive me and truly understand that I am in no way shape or form a sexist and I am a huge fan of Mo’ne. She was quite an inspiration."

Not sure exactly how much truth there is about being a fan of Mo’ne Davis, but we all do things in the heat of the moment that we regret. That’s exactly what Mo’ne feels happened here, and she feels very bad for the young man. Bad enough that she sent an email to his head coach asking to reinstate Casselberry.

Despite Mo’ne’s kind words, Bloomsburg University is apparently holding firm to their decision for now. That’s not surprising, as it wouldn’t look to good for the school to let Casselberry off the hook that easy. It seems the 13-year old is showing maturity well beyond her years.
