The Madness continues Monday, as the women’s NCAA Tournament’s second round features plenty of basketball action. In the nightcap, the third seeded Sun Devils of Arizona State take on the eleventh seeded Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans for the right to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the Greensboro Region.
Arizona State is coming off a decisive first round victory over Ohio. The Sun Devils, led by 19th year coach Charli Turner Thorne, went 28-5 this year, coming in second in the tough Pac-12 conference despite starting the season unranked. They’ll enjoy a favorable crowd in Tempe, Ariz. for this game, and hope to steamroll Arkansas-Little Rock on their way to Greensboro.
They’ll come up against a team with Cinderella aspirations, as Arkansas-Little Rock has already pulled one tournament upset and has its eyes on another. Arkansas-Little Rock went 29-4 this season en route to winning the Sun Belt conference, and defeated sixth seeded Texas A&M in the first round.. The Trojans haven’t lost since Feb. 21 and hope the streak continues against their toughest opponent yet.
