Live scoring updates for Louisiana Tech vs. Texas A&M in the 2015 NIT Tournament.
Although all of the attention for college hoops in March is mainly directed to the bigger and more popular NCAA Tournament, one tournament that still has a ton of quality teams is the NIT Tournament. In the NIT, 32 teams, who are all amongst the best in the nation, square off for the championship. Sure the thrill of winning the NIT Tournament compared to the NCAA Tournament isn’t as impressive, but it’s still extremely impressive. Another unique aspect of this tournament is that the games are played at the higher seed’s arena and not neutral floors.

In this game, the lower-seeded Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will travel west to play on the road in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies. The winner of this game will go on to play the Temple Owls in the Final Four of the tournament. The Bulldogs are led by three of the best players you will never hear of in Raheem Appleby, Alex Hamilton, and Erik McCree. The Conference USA doesn’t get a ton of credit, but it should be said that the Bulldogs have already beaten some good teams in the UAB Blazers, who bursted almost everyone’s bracket after they beat the Iowa State Cyclones, and the Central Michigan Chippewas. The Bulldogs also lost by two points to the Syracuse Orange.
The higher-seeded and home-sided Aggies are a few months removed from losing to the Kentucky Wildcats in double overtime. Texas A&M is led by Texas native Danuel House and Jalen Jones. Alex Caruso is also an intriguing player, as his ability to shoot the deep ball and defend on the perimeter is quite perimeter. At a point in the season, the Aggies were 20-8 and on the bubble to make the big dance. However, three consecutive losses at the end of the season shot down that logic.
It won’t get the national buzz and media attention an NCAA Tournament game would get, but in the Elite Eight, there’s potential for a really good matchup between the Aggies and the Bulldogs. With guys like Appleby, Hamilton, House, and Caruso, this game has the potential to be an exciting one to watch.
