According to his agent, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr will not be taking a pay cut

The Dallas Cowboys are up against the cap and need every bit of breathing room they can get. The team has had tough decisions to make this off-season with the lack of cap space.

The team franchise tagged receiver Dez Bryant and let DeMarco Murray sign with the Philadelphia Eagles after the Eagles threw a ton of money at Murray.

With the team having somewhere around $5 million in cap space, they need to gain cap relief in other areas.

One player they could turn to is cornerback Brandon Carr. Carr is currently on the books for $8 million this season.

However according to Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill, Carr’s agent, Ben Dogra says that Carr won’t accept a pay cut.

Carr was one of the more durable cornerbacks on the Cowboys roster and brought experience to the team.

Fellow Cowboys cornerback Morris Clairborne isn’t expected to be ready for the start of the season and that leaves the Cowboys with little depth at the cornerback position.

While the Cowboys could make the tough decision and release Carr to regain cap space, it would leave a big void at the cornerback spot.

However to fill out the roster and sign draft picks, the Cowboys are going to need more cap relief. If Carr is refusing to take a pay cut, then his days in Dallas will probably be numbered.

If they decide to release Carr, they will have cap space, but they will have to act quickly to get back some secondary depth on the roster.

The Cowboys took a big step forward in 2014. To have another year of success in 2015, they have big decisions to make. Brandon Carr’s fate in Dallas could be the next domino to fall for the Cowboys.
