A long-term deal between the Dallas Cowboys and Dez Bryant is realistic according to executive VP Stephen Jones.

The Dallas Cowboys had a hard decision to make when it came to star offensive players running back DeMarco Murray and wide receiver Dez Bryant. They elected to slap the franchise tag on Bryant to prevent him from leaving and were unable to offer Murray enough money to get a deal done, and he left for the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

It basically goes to show you the value of their respective positions in the NFL. Finding a wide receiver of Dez Bryant’s caliber is a far tougher task than replacing Murray. The Cowboys still aren’t out of the clear when it comes to Bryant, the franchise tag will pay him a bloated single season salary unless they can get a long-term deal done before the July 15th deadline.

David Helman, who writes for DallasCowboys.com, says Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones sees a long-term deal with Dez before the deadline as a ‘realistic’ goal. It isn’t without a catch though.

Jones wants to see how the market prices out some other talented receivers around the same age as Bryant.
