Fantasy Basketball: What Is Brandon Jennings’ Value Next Year

What is Brandon Jennings’ value next year?

Heading into next season there are going to be a lot of questions about Brandon Jennings’ value. As if trying to recover from a full tear in his achilles is not enough, the Pistons went out and traded for a new and extremely talented point guard in Reggie Jackson. Reggie Jackson has been impressive over the last few weeks averaging nearly 14 points and 10 assists. He seems to be quite comfortable in leading the offense and taking the role of starting point guard very well.

All things considered, Brandon Jennings will have a lot of question marks to overcome heading into next season. One could easily argue that after suffering a full tear in his achilles that he may never be the same basketball player again. Many players after suffering the same injury simply never came back to the strength that they were before. On top of his health concerns, you have to worry about if the Pistons are able to retain Reggie Jackson, which is a pretty strong possibility. What do you do with two starting caliber point guards on your team? One might think that you just move Jennings over to the off guard position, but I am not sure that that scenario would work out well. Jennings does not have the best jumper and would probably be tough to develop there.

I don’t think that the Pistons would be able to trade Jennings for a decent return either since he will be coming off of such a tough injury. So we may have a bit of a cluster for the Pistons back-court next season. That could also hamper the development of another talented youngster who seems to be playing much better as of late in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. KCP has been playing much better and is probably worth a pick up for anyone out there still fighting for a championship in your fantasy league and also worth some consideration as a buy in dynasty leagues as well.

Obviously when trying to gauge the future we present more questions than answers, and many of these things we simply will not know until the time arrives. We can however make what I like to call some safe assumptions. We all know where the word assume comes from I think. But if you don’t you can just use up some of the letters and make three words that include the letters ‘u’ and ‘me’ as words figure out what we all become. With that said, I would assume that the Pistons make a hard play to keep Reggie Jackson and give him the reigns to the PG position and try to trade Brandon Jennings whether it is this off-season or possibly at the deadline next season. I do not like Jennings at all in any formats as of right now, and would be looking to unload him on anyone who would take him. Chances are you wil not find much of a suitor and will likely have to hold him and hope for the best case scenario which would be that Reggie Jackson winds up finding a new team this summer.
