Russell Westbrook is at it again, this time finishing a fastbreak alley-oop
There are few players in the NBA with the sheer athleticism of Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. And few match his intensity and passion on the floor.
Despite not having Kevin Durant or Serge Ibaka in the lineup, Westbrook continues to carry the Thunder toward a potential first-round matchup with the league-leading Golden State Warriors. And he regularly does it with highlight-worthy plays, like this one:
Westbrook had a triple-double taken away Monday, which he seemed to earn against the Miami Heat on Sunday. Yet he still has nine this season, an incredible mark for anyone.
Perhaps it’s even more impressive given the relative lack of talent surrounding him with Durant and Ibaka missing considerable time.
Westbrook is a legitimate MVP candidate. And plays like this only sustain the hype around his candidacy.
There is not another point guard in the league who displays such athleticism, and uses it for the better of his team the way Westbrook does.
But it would be a mistake to say that Westbrook doesn’t have talent around him. That talent has just learned that the Thunder now revolve around Westbrook and his freakish athleticism.
