The 17-year vet of the Dallas Mavericks probably isn’t contending for a ring this year or any year before he retires, but he sure is going to climb up a lot of the all-time ladders. He is already seventh all-time in scoring with 27,960 points, and he will probably pass Shaquille O’Neal soon who is sixth all-time with 28,596 points.
The seven-foot German was bound to tally up a lot of rebounds over his career, and last night he grabbed his 10,000th career rebound in a win over the San Antonio Spurs.
It was nice that he was able to do this at home, because the fans obviously knew what was at stake as the cheered for his everyday board.
Unlike scoring, Nowitzki isn’t going to climb up the all-time rebounding list, but he is now one of only 37 people to have at least 10,000 rebounds – and that’s incredible.
Nowitzki isn’t a spring chicken anymore, but he is still having a great season as his Mavericks are set to make the playoffs and he is averaging 17.3 points (46 percent shooting) and 6.0 rebounds this season.
Nowitzki will turn 37 once the season ends, and we need to appreciate these little moments from him because it will all be over before we know it.
