More from Indiana Pacers

News around George and his return to basketball has been heating up lately, and it looks like we could see him in a real game sometimes soon.

After rumors of George possibly returning this week, Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird came out a couple of days ago and said he expects to see George play this year.

Today, Fanduel’s injury expert Will Carroll said that George is “so close” to returning.

It looks like Carroll isn’t far off, because video surfaced yesterday of George playing in a little 4-on-4 at practice. Although it wasn’t an all-out 5-on-5 NBA game, it was still real basketball action and George looking really good.

Most people didn’t think George would return this year simply because there would be no point, but the Pacers have fought hard all season long and are actually in position to make the playoffs. As it stands right now, the Pacers are only one-game out of the final playoff spot in the East (two games out from the seven-seed) and they still have 12 games left to make up that ground.

Just imagine it now: Paul George returns for the final stretch of games to help the Pacers get into the postseason, and then they take on either the Atlanta Hawks or Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.
