NFL draft prospect, UCF wide receiver Breshad Perriman, ran a 4.25 40-yard dash at his Pro Day on Wednesday.

The 2015 NFL draft is nearing ever closer–in fact it is six Thursdays away–and the hype is pumping up to exorbitant levels. Players who were once thought to be certain first day picks are starting to be called overrated and supposedly dropping to day two or three. Others are ascending to be first day picks, who were once largely afterthoughts.

The fast rise to the top seems to be in order for Central Florida wide receiver Breshad Perriman, once somewhat of an afterthought among a crowded wide receiver class. But it doesn’t hurt being an incredibly speedily-footed athlete.

Perriman proved he is just that, running a 4.25 40-yard dash according to NFL Network’s Mike Mayock–who was in attendance for the UCF Pro Day. Others had him between 4.22 and 4.27. The 4.25 number then seems like a fair average.

Here’s the short video:

Perriman’s 40-yard dash was important because he was unable to run at February’s Scouting Combine due to a hamstring injury. If he’d run that number in Indianapolis he would have destroyed anyone and everyone at the Combine.

Perriman is being considered by the most trusted draft analysts as either an early second-round pick or late first-round pick. The 6’2″, 215-pound junior stood out for the Knights in 2014, catching a career-high 50 passes for 1,044 yards (a ridiculous 20.9 yards per reception average) and nine touchdowns.

But it will be interesting to see if the combination of on-field production and workout statistics causes him to climb further up draft boards. We shall see in t-minus six Thursday evenings.
