The second-seeded Arizona Wildcats (33-3) are looking forward to a rematch with Wisconsin in the regional final (their game last year was one of the tournament’s most memorable), but they can’t be caught looking ahead; first they have Xavier to beat. Behind freshman standout Stanley Johnson, the Wildcats have looked like a true contender so far, adjusting well to beat Ohio State in the Round of 32. But this is their toughest tournament opponent so far; they’d better be ready.
Xavier (23-13) has beaten BYU and Georgia State to get this far; but that’s one of the easiest slates of any tournament team, and this will be their first game against a single-digit seed, and it’s a formidable one in Arizona. Xavier has had an up-and-down season, but they can play with anyone. They’ll need their best effort to survive this clash.
