Nebraska DE Randy Gregory has tested positive for marijuana and his draft stock could take a plummet.

Nebraska DE Randy Gregory was expected to be a top 10 selection in the NFL draft. He has a bright future in the league with all the talent that he can bring to the field. Unfortunately, Gregory made a big time mistake before the NFL Draft opens up in a few weeks.

Gregory tested positive for marijuana on his drug test at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, per NFL.com. People can debate over marijuana all they want, but these kids know that they are going to be tested at the combine and Gregory was still stupid enough to mess with the stuff before he was displayed in front of NFL personnel.

“I blame myself,” Gregory said. “And I know it sounds cliché, but there’s really no one else I can blame.”

Gregory learned that he failed the test a couple of weeks ago. His father was the one that opened the letter about his failed drug test. Gregory thought it was a letter to invite him out to the NFL Draft and instead it was notification that he had failed his drug test at the combine.

He knows that it is going to affect his draft stock. He knows that the teams all have heard the news.

“Am I worried? Yeah, I’m worried,” he said. “At the same time, I’m confident. I know I’m going to be all right in the end.”

NFL personnel was already aware of his off-field habits. Too bad it came up to bite him in the butt again. Teams will definitely be leery about selecting the talented defensive end. When he can’t do it right, when he knows that they are going to get tested for it, then how will he perform when they will be tested at random?

“I don’t wake up every day saying, I’d really love to go smoke,” he said. “It’s not a struggle for me every day (now), it really isn’t. In the past, hell yeah, it’s been a struggle. It really has been. Now, I’m focused on my dream.”

He might not think that it is a problem, but that is not the way that it is perceived. We will see where Gregory goes in the NFL Draft. This hurts the draft stock. How far will he slide down the draft though?
