Dwight Howard had three huge dunks in the first half for the Houston Rockets in their home matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday night.
Dwight Howard is back! He had not one, not two but three slam dunks in the first half for the Houston Rockets as they battled the hapless Minnesota Timberwolves.
En route to the Rockets’ 120-110 victory, Howard finished the game with 18 points on 8-9 shooting in just 20 minutes played, including the three monster jams in the initial stanza of the contest.
Enjoy watching them one after another.
It is noteworthy that all three came off assists–two of those from the Rockets’ primary playmaker James Harden, who finished the game with 33 points on 9-19 shooting including 6-12 from deep and 9-10 at the foul line. He also finished with eight assists.
The other assisted dunk came from the hands of Josh Smith, someone generally not known for his passing ability. The three dunks are notable for other reasons as well.
One, two of the three came off pick-and-rolls, which has always been the best way to secure Howard great looks at the rim. And second, Howard played in his just second game Friday after missing 26 straight games dating back to the Rockets’ road victory at the Lakers on January 25.
Howard returned to the lineup on Wednesday night at New Orleans, playing 16 minutes and scoring just four points.
