The Kentucky Wildcats destroyed an over confident West Virginia Mountaineers team on Thursday in the Sweet Sixteen, and Devin Booker had some fun with it after the game.

The West Virginia Mountaineers basketball team was very confident going into Thursday’s game against 36-0 Kentucky, which took a lot of courage. Unfortunately for West Virginia, they were absolutely walloped by the best team in the nation 78-39.

In a West Virginia press conference during the week, junior guard Daxter Miles Jr. made a very bold prediction on what Kentucky’s record would be after their Sweet Sixteen matchup:

They’re gonna be 36-1,” Miles said.

DID YOU EVEN KNOCK ON WOOD, DAXTER?!?!

Clearly not, because that was one of Kentucky’s best defensive games of the season. Kentucky gave up less than 39 points twice during the year to Missouri (37) and Montana State (28). But, let’s look at teams that Kentucky gave up more than 39 points to: Grand Canyon (45), Boston University (65), UT-Arlington (44), Hampton (56).

Well, after the demolishing of West Virginia, Kentucky freshman guard Devin Booker used Twitter to troll right back at Daxter Miles Jr.

Ha! Oh…I see what you did there Book. Crafty.

Booker had a great game for Kentucky scoring 12 points in 17 minutes with four rebounds and an assist. He was one of five Kentucky players in double figures. Trey Lyles led the team with 14 points and added seven rebounds and two assists.

Kentucky moves on to the Elite Eight where they will play Notre Dame led by Jerian Grant and Pat Connaughton, and Kentucky will hope to move to 38-0 and make their 17th Final Four appearance.
