Stanford is coming off an 86-76 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Round of 32 on Monday. In that game guard Amber Orange led the Cardinal with 24 points on 11-18 shooting and added seven rebounds. The Cardinal also received 19 points apiece from Bonnie Samuelson and Lili Thompson, while Briana Roberson contributed 13 points off the bench while playing 37 minutes.
The Cardinal can also boast of being the only team in the country this season to knock off the mighty UConn Huskies–the tournament’s No. 1 overall seed.
Notre Dame comes into this game with an extra day’s rest, having last played Sunday when it defeated the Depaul Blue Demons 79-67. In that game, they were led by guard Michaela Mabry and her 19 points, but had all five starters score in double figures.
One of Notre Dame’s two losses came in December against then-No. 3 UConn at home in South Bend, Indiana. That 18-point defeat, however, set them on a path whereby they’d lose only more game all season to date. As such, they carry a 19-game winning streak into this Sweet 16 matchup.
