Watch the Midwest Region Elite Eight matchup between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Kentucky Wildcats online.
The second ticket to Indianapolis and the NCAA Final Four will be punched right around 11 PM ET. It will belong to either the No. 1 overall seed Kentucky Wildcats–undefeated at 37-0 this season–or the No. 3 seed in the Midwest region, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (32-5, 14-4 ACC).
Both teams are coming off comfortable wins on Thursday night in Cleveland. Notre Dame defeated 7th-seeded Wichita State 81-70, as they started the game up 20-7, and then led much of the second half by 15-plus points.
The Kentucky Wildcats were even more dominant in their Sweet 16 victory, literally doubling up West Virginia Mountaineers 78-39. SEC freshman of the year Karl-Anthony Towns scored just one point, while Willie Cauley-Stein managed just eight points. But it hardly mattered, as Kentucky started the game out 20-2 at one point.
Notre Dame is trying to win the school’s first national title in basketball. It reached its’ first Elite 8 since 1979 by winning on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Kentucky is trying to pull off the rarest of accomplishments: a perfect season.
It is also attempting to near ever closer to UCLA in most national titles in college basketball history. Kentucky currently has eight. Nine would get them to within just two of the Bruins.
The Elite Eight matchup from Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena is broadcast by Turner, as are all the NCAA Men’s Tournament games. The broadcast team will be led by Marv Albert, with analysts Len Elmore and Chris Webber.
