Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson crushed a home run at spring training with the Texas Rangers.

Russell Wilson shows he’s still got some pop in his bat after crushing a ball over the fence at spring training with the Texas Rangers where he appeared for the second straight year.

Wilson took part in a morning workout with the Rangers and picked up a bat for the first time in a couple of years and showed the former minor leaguer still has some pop left in his bat.

On Saturday, Wilson took some grounders and some cuts in batting practice, even knocking one over the fence, which had to feel pretty good for the Super Bowl champion, but is it better than throwing a touchdown?

“I have’t swung a bat in about two years,” he said, via the Seattle Times. “I lasered one out of left-center field so that was good to stay back and drive it left center. It feels good hitting a home run. There’s something special about throwing a touchdown, but hitting a home run is a good feeling too.”

You can see the home run in the video below courtesy of Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times:

When Wilson was at spring training last year after the Rangers drafted him in the 2013 Rule 5 Draft, he fielded grounders but didn’t get any at bats, so that had to be gratifying for the former fourth round pick of the Colorado Rockies.

Wilson didn’t have much success in the minor leagues while he split his time on the diamond and the gridiron, compiling a .229 average with 5 home runs and 26 RBI in 93 professional games.

At least he had a football career to fall back on with the Seattle Seahawks where he has been to the Super Bowl in the last two seasons, including winning the game two years ago against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

He is in line for a monster contract extension in the next year and will be one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

Talk about hitting a home run.
