The Texas Rangers are looking to rebound in 2015 after a terrible 2014 campaign.

Introduction/2014 Capsule

The 2014 season was definitely not one to remember for the Texas Rangers and their faithful fans. After winning 91 games a season earlier, the Rangers came crashing back to earth with a 67-95 record — good enough for dead last in the American League.

The 2015 campaign took a blow early, as ace Yu Darvish will miss the entire season due to Tommy John surgery. Losing Darvish before the season even begins is certainly not going to help the Rangers crawl out of the basement of the American League West division. With three teams in the division who won 87 or more games combined with a Houston Astros squad on the rise, things are starting to get dicey in Arlington.

Forget digging deep into the numbers, everything you need to know about this team is right there on the surface of your every day, most common stats in 2014:

No. 10 in the AL in runs scored (637).

No. 11 in the AL in OPS (.689).

No. 12 in the AL in total bases (2049).

No. 14 in the AL in ERA (4.49).

No. 14 in the AL in opponents batting average (.272).

Allowed the second most runs in the American League (773).

As you can see, there is clearly room for plenty of improvement on both sides of the ball. Will the Rangers get that improvement, despite losing their opening day starter before the season begins? Let’s take a closer look.
